The creation of the agency’s work environment Youth Action West Island (Ajoie) is the source of the Table de concertation jeunesse West Island. This round table is an organization thirty-five organizations and institutions working with youth. Its objectives are to identify and meet the needs of all young people by sharing information about needs, resources and services.

In 2005, a working committee was assembled to portray the needs and realities of young people in our territory.This study was made possible by a grant from the Program Action Fund Crime Prevention (FAPC) of the Ministry of Public Safety Canada. Before January 2006, the program existed under the name of community mobilization.

On June 19, 2006 was held the launch of Portrait of young West Island carried out by the Table de concertation jeunesse West Island. In this study, it was recommended to develop avenues of funding to plan and implement a program of workers in the middle for the whole of West Island

In May 2007, an employee of the Table is hired for the implementation of the Youth Action Project Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Sainte-Geneviève and funded by United Way of Greater Montreal. Pierrefonds granted us in June 2007, the working environment and the agreement in principle MESS / City of Montreal (borough of Pierrefonds / Roxboro), which allowed to undertake our activities on the territory of the West Island.

To ensure the sustainability of the program environment for workers in the West Island, members of the working committee begin the necessary steps with the registrar of companies in Quebec and it delivers the Letters Patent Action Youth West Island (Ajoie) September 12, 2007.

In March 2008, the organization Youth Action West Island (Ajoie) / West Island Youth Action (Ajoie) is now registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (hereinafter, the CRA ) as a charity. Therefore, it enjoys tax exemption under this title to section 149 (1) (f) of the Act, the income tax. By the same token, the body gets its GST number.

In May 2009, the organization Youth Action West Island (Ajoie) / West Island Youth Action (Ajoie) gets its first financial statements vérifiés.En January 2010, the organization Youth Action West de Island (Ajoie) / West Island Youth Action (Ajoie) gets his number QST.

La création de l’organisme de travail de milieu Action jeunesse de l’Ouest-de-l’Île (AJOI) est à l’origine de la Table de concertation jeunesse de l’Ouest-de-l’Île. Cette table de concertation est une organisation regroupant trente-cinq organismes et institutions œuvrant auprès de la jeunesse. Ses objectifs consistent à déterminer et répondre aux besoins des jeunes tout en mettant en commun l’information concernant les besoins, les ressources et les services.

En 2005, un comité de travail a été assemblé pour dresser le portrait des besoins et des réalités des jeunes de notre territoire. Cette étude a été rendue possible grâce à une subvention du programme de Fonds d’action en prévention du crime (FAPC) du Ministère de la Sécurité publique du Canada. Avant janvier 2006, le programme existait sous le nom de Mobilisation des Collectivités.

Le 19 juin 2006 se tenait le lancement du Portrait des jeunes de l’Ouest-de-l’Île réalisé par la Table de concertation jeunesse de l’Ouest-de-l’Île. Dans cette étude, il fut recommandé de développer des avenues de financement pour planifier et réaliser un programme de travailleurs de milieu pour l’ensemble du territoire de l’Ouest-de-l’Île

En mai 2007, un employé de la Table de concertation est embauché pour la mise en place du projet Action jeunesse Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue et Sainte-Geneviève financé par Centraide du Grand Montréal. Pierrefonds nous accorda en juin 2007, le programme de travail de milieu et l’entente de principe MESS/Ville de Montréal (arrondissement Pierrefonds/Roxboro), ce qui permit d’entreprendre nos activités sur le territoire de l’Ouest-de-l’Île.

Afin d’assurer la viabilité du programme de travailleurs de milieu pour l’Ouest-de-l’Île, les membres du comité de travail entament les démarches nécessaires auprès du registraire des entreprises du Québec et celui-ci délivre les Lettres patentes à Action jeunesse de l’Ouest-de-l’Île (AJOI) le 12 septembre 2007.

En mars 2008, l’organisme Action jeunesse de l’Ouest-de-l’Île (AJOI) / West Island Youth Action (AJOI) est maintenant enregistré auprès de l’Agence du revenu du Canada (ci-après, l’ARC) à titre d’organisme de bienfaisance. Dès lors, il bénéficie de l’exemption d’impôt prévue à ce titre à l’article 149(1)(f) de la Loi de l’impôt sur le revenu. Par le fait même, l’organisme obtient son numéro de TPS.

En mai 2009, l’organisme Action jeunesse de l’Ouest-de-l’Île (AJOI) / West Island Youth Action (AJOI) obtient ses premiers états financiers vérifiés.En janvier 2010, l’organisme Action jeunesse de l’Ouest-de-l’Île (AJOI) / West Island Youth Action (AJOI) obtient son numéro de TVQ.

The youth/street workers facilitate youth by supporting their projects and by participating in their activities. The Youth Workers’ mission is to create and promote various sports and cultural activities where the youth will actively involved and which will address issues which are pertinent. The Youth Workers will be positive role models for the youth and will recognize their successes their capacities to resolve their conflicts and by positively influence their attitudes and beliefs. Also, they will promote the various community organizations who offer activities, programs and services to youth.

• Make contact with the youth and build a relationship of trust with them.
• Prevention of difficulties youth may be experiencing within their : families, at school, among their friends and within their 
• Personal relationships.
• Referral of youth to specialized services depending on their needs, (suicidal thoughts, runaways, etc).
• Crisis intervention.
• Accompaniment, listening, support and needs-based referral.
• Encourage youth to choose and adopt safe and secure behaviours.
• Distribution of condoms, pamphlets and other prevention materials.
• Planning and development of prevention programs.
